L402Audio is a Los Angeles-based event coordination and DJ outfit maneuvered by Jeff Tovar. With roots deep in the Drum & Bass culture since ‘97 under the guise of Phear, the focus has also encompassed 4-Beat electronic dance music and multi-genre private events as Sucio.
Jeff Tovar also does freelance work in two other disciplines, music usually acting as the glue. You can see his latest Web Design work displayed on the popular

Phear Information

Phear has been involved in the Los Angeles D&B scene since ‘99, putting together his first weekly at a small bar called The Resonance Lab. From there he hooked up with the guys at Vibeflow and had one of the site’s highest ranked shows, Medium Radio. 3 years later the show ended and a new one was born- Therapeutics.
This helped fuel the fire for his DJing status and he soon gained bookings in Canada, Mexico and Germany, where he there became a US DJ for the Basswerk label. Through the years it was his art of mixing that caught the ear of many listeners and label boss of the UK’s New Vision Recordings, who then also made him a DJ for the label. At about that same time a new one-off event by Phear was also making waves, The Unborn.
Here in Los Angeles, his Club Muse bi-weekly brand had the city stirring with an alternative to the harder sounds in most D&B clubs- a soulful and progressive feel.The night lasted 6 years, went on a 2 year hiatus, and has now returned with a broader view of the horizon. Phear currently works with partner Ryan Origin as the duo Kuru producing both original music and remixes in the 4-beat and D&B worlds. It’s time to “Get Ill.”

Sucio Information

Feeling a growing urge to expand his musical styling beyond D&B, Phear took on the 4-beat world under the new name of Sucio. The genres of Tech-Electro-Progressive House and Techno soon became a new excitement. Soon the guys at Respect asked him to host a monthly on their patio- Firme. 
News spread and he and partner Kingpin then hosted a monthly for Bassrush at Cinespace called Kaleidoscope. Though the event was short-lived, it was evident that these genres were going to be part of the Sucio repertoire as long as he remained behind the decks. Along with the new sounds came the introduction of Ableton Live as a performance and mixing tool.
Sucio currently DJs for the Standard Hotel Hollywood playing just about every type of lounge-friendly music. He also teamed up with a new partner, Lonnie Thompson, to form Shame On You- a DJ duo which focused on private parties for clients who don’t necessarily want the typical top 40, as well as the Fidget/Electro/Bassline club scene. This project has since been ceased but the ideology still continues with Sucio’s eclectic sound.
