Last weekend was the Hard Haunted Mansion Festival at The Shrine in Downtown LA. This event featured some of the biggest names in the game over a 2 day period. Staticka Photography shot the first night of the party, where DJ A-Trak featured one of the photos on his site.

Valida is a very particular woman who knows what she wants and just how to get it. This job was a lesson in giving the client just that. It was originally supposed to be a revamp of her old site, built as template pages she could update on her own without having to learn too much more than what she already knew with Dreamweaver. So instead of going the 2009 Web 2.0 route, I resorted to using tables (yes, tables), putting content inside of a billboard (a task in its own) and going back to basics. At the end of it all, she was very pleased with the outcome and I’ll now be her web guy for updates. Maybe one day I’ll give it an updated scheme and coding, but until then, it’s all about what she wants.

Facebook Meme – CD Album Design

There’s been a cool Facebook meme going around that has just about everyone giving it a shot. The rules are as follows…

1. – Click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2. – Click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3. – Click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5. – Post it to FB with this text in the “caption” and tag the friends you want to join in. (You can untag yourself if you don’t want this photo up)

My first attempt presented a photo I felt uninspiring so I only gave it a couple minutes worth of time. I was then tagged by a couple friends so I decided to give it more of an effort when the gods threw me a bone- a photo of a girl in socks. It’s like someone over at Flickr had my number.

Trust 12/06 – Staticka Write-up & Photos

I got to play paparazzi last Saturday night for Nick Dirty and his friends. From the stretched Hummer limo to Joe’s Crab Shack, the evening ended at the very vibrant Trust club in Santa Ana where Origin and I played our first gig as Kuru. Gooood times!

I Heart RSS, Feed Aggregator Site

Media Contender partner Eric Foster has been busy with a new project focusing on Single Page Aggregation site technology. IHeartRSS.com brings you the latest feeds from select sites offering quality news, beats and info on music. I’m not really sure what it takes to get something like this running, but by offering some type of user customization—create a profile, watch the URLs you want to watch, change the color scheme, etc.—I can see this type of page being very useful. It’s still in its infancy so where he takes it is still a guess. Either way, great things happening! Check it out and give him some feedback.

I’m never one to really sit still for very long, especially when a project is on constant nag. This website is my personal portfolio so it’s gotta look up to standards, right? The tricky part is, just whose standards are we talking here?

Have a look about and hopefully yours are met. I’m not going to promise a life-changing experience, just a good ol’-fashioned CSS customization. Hmm, I should probably complete the About sections at some point, too.

Fly, Boy, Fly! My Skydiving Cherry Popped

Richard has been bugging me for a while now, enticing me with stories and videos of himself, I just couldn’t quite get myself to do it. Last Friday I finally got up the courage and strapped myself to the front of another guy and leaped out of a plane while Moo provided the video. A-ma-zing. Like, words fail to describe the actual feeling amazing. Without a doubt the best high I have experienced, and I’ve had a few in my time. A big thanks to you guys and Lelo from Skydive Elsinore for popping my skydiving cherry. Now I just gotta go through the AFF classes to be able to jump solo. I can’t effing wait.

Yes, that was Richard with the crazy plane exit just before us. And Lelo, what was up with that “Bounce-Jeff-On-His-Ass” landing? Ouch.

Waves At Night, Inspiring Blog Design

Searching for new music today at the ever-so-awesome Hype Machine, I came across one of the cleanest, most inspiring blog designs my eyes have seen in days. Waves At Night showcases an intriguing collage-style frame, leaving ample room for comfortably spaced black text on a white background. Classy, arresting, simple.

Kudos to the designer for not only a great blog to look at, but also to the authors for keeping up on such paramount music of our times.
